NBN costs are rising, here’s how we’re handling it differently
But here’s the thing: not everyone’s passing the cost on.
At Occom, we knew we couldn’t ignore what Aussie households are going through. So, while most internet providers are quietly bumping up their prices, we took a closer look and made a different call.
What we’ve done and why
We didn’t want to be another provider putting pressure on people already doing it tough. So, we made clear decisions:
We kept our entry-level plans the same.
Plans like NBN 12 and NBN 25 haven’t changed by a cent. These are often chosen by students, pensioners, or anyone watching every dollar, and we’re proud to keep them affordable.
We dropped the price of our fastest plans.
If you’re on NBN 500 or NBN 1000, you’re now paying less than you did before. Because when you need speed, you shouldn’t have to pay the top dollar for it.
We slightly raised two mid-tier plans, only where we had to.
NBN Co has increased the wholesale pricing on several speed tiers. For NBN 50 and NBN 100, we’ve simply passed on that cost nothing more. The change is small, and we’ve made sure to keep it as fair and minimal as possible.

Plan | Old Price | New Price (from 1 July) |
NBN 12 | $58 | $58 |
NBN 25 | $70 | $70 |
NBN 500 | $110 | $108 |
NBN 1000 | $125 | $120 |
NBN 50 | $78 | $80 |
NBN 100 | $88 | $90 |
This wasn’t about marketing. It was about doing what felt right.
A Provider You Can Talk To
Here’s something else we don’t think should be a luxury: support that’s supportive. If you’ve ever been stuck on hold, passed between departments, or “talking” to a chatbot that doesn’t get it, we hear you.
At Occom, a real person answers your call in under 17 seconds. Every single day of the year. Because when your internet’s down or your bill feels confusing, the last thing you need is a robot reading from a script.
Flexibility Without Fuss
Need to change your plan? We’ll make it easy. Already on a special offer? That discount stays until the end of your deal. Unsure what plan suits you best? Call us. No pressure. No sales pitch.
And if you’re eligible, there’s more good news from July. We’re also rolling out free speed upgrades for a bunch of customers. Yep, no catch. Just faster speeds, the same price.

Why This Matters
We’re a small team, but we’re not a small business when it comes to our values. We started Occom to shake up the internet industry, and that means putting people first, even when it costs more. We know internet isn’t a “nice-to-have” anymore. It’s how you work, learn, pay bills, find help, and stay close to the people you love. In hard times, it’s often the one thing that keeps things going.
So, we’re not cutting corners. We’re cutting prices. And we’re holding the line where it matters most.
You Can Rely on Us
So, if your provider just raised prices again… or you’re wondering if you’re paying more than you should… come have a chat. We’ll listen. We’ll help. We’ll keep it simple.
Because when everything else feels out of your control, your internet shouldn’t be.
